The Montijo branch, initially known as “Aldegallega branch”, due to the former designation of the Montijo district, was a railroad section, in Iberian gauge, connecting Pinhal Novo to Montijo; was inaugurated in 1908 and closed in 1989.

This branch was used by goods compositions, such as the transport of cattle, especially swine, to the Montijo Station. Since May 30, 1933, the Portuguese Railways Company began to transport passengers by buses at this branch, leaving only two daily compositions of goods. Circulation at the branch was suspended in 1989.
